Android is an operating system based on the linux kernel used to operate different types of smart mobile phones, tablets, computers, laptops, television, auto and other type of smart technology.Company which developed android was founded by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White. In 2003 Palo Alto California they set up task to develop new and advanced operating system which will be more aware of the owner’s location and preferences.
An operating system that will rival Symbian and Microsoft Windows Mobile. They ran out of money, and in 2005 android was bought by Google, that continues to develop it today. With the opening of Google Store (Google Play) people can develop android applications for this operating system.Applications are developed with the Android software development kit SDK and appropriate android IDE which implements the use of java and cc++ programming languages in application building.
After release of the I-Phone, Apple and Google are the top rivals in the smart phone industry. With IOS and Android as their main smart operating system. The features which make android different from other operating systems is it’s interface which enables direct manipulation like swiping, tapping, pinching, manipulation of on-screen objects and virtual keyboard.
This interface enables the use of other internal hardware like hap tic feedback, accelerometers, gyroscopes, proximity sensors and other types of sensors required by some applications to operate and display all the user desired actions.Androids memory management is designed to use minimal power consumption because it’s meant to be used in mobile devices. When android is not used it goes into sleep mode and it suspends itself into the memory. Applications are loaded into the memory until it’s full, after that the system kills processes one by one starting from the process which was inactive the most.
The hardware which android uses is ARM architecture, and in the latest versions since Android 5.0 Lollipop 64-bit variants are available.
