As the internet continues to grow web designers get access better and more advanced website platforms. When you working in the web development field it is important to keep up with all of the changing trends and tools. This way you can keep up with customer requests and which types of websites are becoming more popular.

Now that we are a few months into 2017 here are some of the latest web development trends.

1) Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence bots and software continues to expand in its capabilities and requires less man power. There is lots of software within arms reach that can run parts of a large company. Both Google and Wikipedia are already using versions of artificial intelligence. Google has crawler bots, self-driving vehicles (soon to be legal), search algorithms, and much more. There is an artificial intelligence program called Molly that helps beginner programmers to build a website.

2) Javascript has become increasingly popular

Programmers and web designers around the world are starting to use Javascript more often than not. If you are not familiar with Javascript now is a good time to brush up on some of those skills. The last thing you want is to have to decline work from a customer because you do not know the language. Lots of developers prefer to use Javascript for some if not all of a project (per stackoverflow.com).

Learning the language will not be an easy task, but if you have tools or ways to get training it can be helpful in the end.

3) Be mindful that technology is shifting more towards mobile and in-home usage

There are tons of smart home products on the market and many more to come in the future. We are still in the early stages of connecting household appliances to smartphones, but it is inevitably the future. Building programs and technology that can easily communicate with appliances around it will give the developer a head start over certain competitors.

Mark Zuckerburg, CEO of Facebook, has been working on a robot AI project similar to Jarvis in the movie Ironman. This robot can control items around the house such as toasters, heaters, air conditioning, garage doors and lights through a chat application and voice-recognition software.

4) The army of online bots are growing

Computer-generated bots are becoming increasingly more popular and helpful as they are programmed to learn more commands. Bots are set out to make life easier (or at least that is the intent). Messaging forums and online chat support has become more popular over the years and is used by many businesses of all different sizes. When chat support is opened there may be a programmed bot response telling the user what to do. Or the bot can be used to help the person get in touch with the right company employee. Bots are able to help answer basic questions very fast. When a human is not available at the moment a bot can help the customer as best as it can before the person is available.
